North Korea: A New Threat In This Decade.

Americans have had many enemies through out history in the world but few have been seen as a legitimate threat to the United States. There was Russia and Japan in the 1940s and more recently, Iran. And as the new year approaches, America seems to have a new potential enemy, North Korea. North Korea is a Communist nation capable of launching a cross-continental nuclear strike with a passionate hatred towards a very prominent ally to the U.S., South Korea. With rising tension in the Middle East and in the aftermath of a presidential election, is the United States ready to tackle this new treat diplomatically? I would hope so. North Korea is a potential threat to the American way of life and should be treated with a delicate hand.

Korea has been testing out long range ballistic missiles and has failed until recently. They now have long range missiles as shown on Monday, December 10th, 2012's N.K. successful satellite launch. Find out more here: http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2012/12/13/north-korea-rocket-satellite.html

Happy Columbus Day

Many Americans have this day off  of school/work but we in Miami do not. Let us celebrate this important day in history when Columbus encountered the Caribbean islands. On this day, Christopher Columbus changed the world forever. He sparked colonization in the New World and began the mass-migration from Europe. In some ways the United States owes Columbus for i's nationhood. Some people like me may see Columbus as a savage person who killed many native islanders in the Caribbean, but either way in America we celebrate him for the movement he sparked.

US drone strike kills 5 militants in Pakistan

C.I.A Predator Drone firing a Missile in Northwest Pakistan
On Monday, September 24, 2012, two American missiles fired from an unmanned Predator Drone struck and killed 5 militants. These predator drones, controlled by the United States Airforce, have caused many conflicts between the United States and Pakistan. Pakistan wants control of the drones directly or for the strikes to stop entirely. The U.S. refuses both these options. Political relations between the Palestinians and the United States has been stressed at best lately because of military interventions like these.
